Tour Stop: Taste by Kate Evangelista! [Interview & Giveaway]

Hi guys! Today I'm really excited to be a part of the Taste blog tour! Earlier in 2012, I also reviewed the book, so check that out too :D

Enjoy!

About the Book:

At Barinkoff Academy, there’s only one rule: no students on campus after curfew. Phoenix McKay soon finds out why when she is left behind at sunset. A group calling themselves night students threaten to taste her flesh until she is saved by a mysterious, alluring boy. With his pale skin, dark eyes, and mesmerizing voice, Demitri is both irresistible and impenetrable. He warns her to stay away from his dangerous world of flesh eaters. Unfortunately, the gorgeous and playful Luka has other plans.

When Phoenix is caught between her physical and her emotional attraction, she becomes the keeper of a deadly secret that will rock the foundations of an ancient civilization living beneath Barinkoff Academy.Phoenix doesn’t realize until it is too late that the closer she gets to both Demitri and Luka the more she is plunging them all into a centuries old feud.

About the Author:

When Kate Evangelista was told she had a knack for writing stories, she did the next best thing: entered medical school. After realizing she wasn't going to be the next Doogie Howser, M.D., Kate wandered into the Literature department of her university and never looked back. Today, she is in possession of a piece of paper that says to the world she owns a Literature degree. To make matters worse, she took Master's courses in creative writing. In the end, she realized to be a writer, none of what she had mattered. What really mattered? Writing. Plain and simple, honest to God, sitting in front of her computer, writing.

Interview!

What was your greatest obstacle to overcome as a writer and how did you overcome it?
Getting published. I think for any writer who has a completed manuscript that’s been edited to the ground and back, the next obstacle is getting it published. I write to share the stories of my characters with readers. I overcame this obstacle by being patient and kept trying despite all the rejections. At some point a couple years back, I even considered self-publishing. Now, because of all the patience and trying, all my novels have homes and I can’t wait to share them with all of you.

TASTE features the Zhamvy, a unique but creative combination of vampire like zombies. Do you read or watch a lot of vampire or zombie related fiction or shows?
Not really. I do watch The Vampire Diaries, but that’s mostly for Damon. I also used to watch Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but that was more for Angel and Spike. The Walking Dead is also an enjoyable show. But putting all these together don’t really affect Taste because I wrote Taste way before these shows were on TV—well, except for Buffy. I went for Zhamvy when I started writing Taste because Vampires were so popular and I was hoping to go for something a little different.

Do you have a favorite scene in the book?
The whipping scene. I don’t really know why, but there’s something about watching Demitri in that situation and how Phoenix reacted. They both needed a big hug in that scene.

Would you be Team Demitri or Team Luka, if you wouldn't mind me asking? (:
Don’t tell Demitri, but I’m Team Luka all the way. And because of this, I’m writing two companion novels after Taste called Savor and Fervor (which will be released at the same time) that feature Luka. Two stories happening at the same time with the same characters just in different universes. Super excited to release these babies. Make sure to add them to your TBR list on Goodreads besides Taste. :)

If you could have any superpower, which would you choose?
Mind reading, but the kind I could turn off and on at will. Can you imagine if you can’t turn it off? I’d go insane. So, mind reading would be cool if you could control it.

Thank you so much for having me on your blog today. I loved answering each and every one of your questions. And thank you to your readers for hanging out with us today. Please make sure to join the giveaway!
